伦敦在英格兰还是在加拿大？
题主可能是被百度地图给骗了，或者是被某些不懂装懂的答主给骗了！ 百度地图上显示的“英国首都”是英国的行政中心（Government of the United Kingdom），而不是地理意义上的首都（Capital）。 而Geography中的the Capital一般是指政治制度中中央政府所在的地点，而the administrative centre才是指一个国家的行政中心，即我们常说的“首都在哪里”里的那个“首”，其英文表达为the place where a head of state or government normally resides。 因此我们可以得到以下表达：
1.英国首相一般在唐宁街10号办公。The Prime Minister tends to work at Number 10 Downing Street.
2.伦敦是英国的政治中心。London is the political center of the UK.
3.白金汉宫是英国国王的官邸。Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British monarch.
4.威斯敏斯特大教堂(Westminster Abbey)是英联邦的国家纪念馆和许多著名的英国人物的葬身之地。它的建筑位于伦敦市区的正中心。Wesminister Abbey is a large， mostly Gothic-style church in central London that contains the tombs of many famous Britons as well as being the National Memorial to the Unknown Soldier for the Commonwealth and other former territories under British rule.
综上，从地理意义上说，英国没有真正意义上的省会、首府或者首都；但无论从历史还是现实角度，伦敦都是最大最发达的城市，所以其他城市的人都要往它那里挤——经济和政治上的中央集权化就产生了。 至于为什么百度地图会搞出“英国首都”这一选项，我就不得而知了……不过，要真按这样的地名理解来划分的话，那整个欧洲都该叫“首都洲”了→_→因为几乎所有国家都有首都啊… 另外再顺便说一句：虽然英国不存在“省”这个建制，但在英语里“county”这个词同时也有“县”“郡”的意思。比如剑桥郡Cambridge County 是典型的以镇(town、city)为单位构成的县级行政区，而威尔特郡Wiltshire 则是以乡镇(village、hamlet)和村庄(settlement)为基础构成的县级行政单位。
